Assignment 3 - Music Video

Task
Create a 3-5 minutes music video with a narrative.

Research
We came out with various music like Reload by Sebastian Ingrosso, Titanium by David Guetta, The Nights by Avicii. In the end we decided to use Don't You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia because of its potential story in their lyrics. For the VFX we thought of what effects can be place in the story and list down many vfx like, explosions, gun vfx, energy waves. We decided to split the music into 5 parts so each of us can participate in directing and be cameraman. It was a little tough because not everyone will have the same thinking in the story and have to clarify clearly to have a smooth flow in the plot. As our story contains alot of chasing scene, Mr Jame helped and teach us how to set up and operate the steadicam.

Production
On Friday morning 10am, we loan and set up equipments, and start production. Halfway through the production, it was drizzling and we have to stop filming and clock is ticking, Other problem is the background. I did not plan to have anyone in the background. However, there are many people walking in the path and we have to 'block' them. We stop filming at 9pm and everyone was exhausted including the actors, they need to run for a lot of scenes. We had to continue on Monday and Tuesday before and after school to film.

Summary
In this assignment, I learnt many things like setting and operating steadicam. Learning steadicam is not a one-day thing and we have to really master it to full utilize it. We also learnt how to operate the 4k cage mount. We are thankfully to have SyafiqZ and Sharon to help us act in the mv even though they have their own assignments to do. I had fun doing this assigment.

Assignment 2 - Movie Trailer Production Report (Film and Audio Editing)

Task
Edit a 1 minute trailer for the movie (How to Train Your Dragon)

Target audience?
Everyone

Research:
The trailer I have edited consist of different montages revolving around Hiccup (Main Actor).
Timeline:
Hiccup captures a dragon,
Claims he can kill it.
Couldn't do it in the end.
"I wouldn't kill him, because he looked as frightened as *I* was. I looked at him... and I saw myself."
Bonding between the dragon (Toothless) and Hiccup.

I did not show other characters like Hiccup's dad or his friends. My main objective is to show the audience how the relationship between Hiccup and Toothless will go. I also try to show their special connections throughout the trailer.

Challenges:
One difficulty I found is extracting the actor's voice to the trailer. Some parts there are background music covering their voice. What I done is editing the audio in Audition and try to cover the background music.
Another difficulty is finding the music that suits the scene. It requires alot of experiments and testings.
